TARfighter is designed not only for experienced turnaround managers, but also for those that are new to the role, or are building new turnaround teams in preparation for upcoming projects. For experienced turnaround managers, the simulation presents an opportunity to step away from the risk and pressure of a real-life turnaround, while having the opportunity to evaluate your own approach to turnaround decision making. For new teams, the simulation gives attendees a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of turnaround decision making. For all, this course is a great team building exercise!

The simulation itself works through all of the key stages of a shutdown – from project planning and scope definition, through to planning and scheduling, execution and project review. As they work through the simulation, attendees will be faced with real-life challenges and decisions that could happen during any project. How will you address your budget without compromising safety? How much are you prepared to cut costs, even if the impact on project quality is negative? With key KPIs tracked along the way, this is a unique opportunity to approach a turnaround project like never before!

In addition to the simulation, TARfighter is also packed with interactive discussion sessions, expert presentations and case studies, and group exercises. Discuss your issues with peers, talk through experiences and challenges, and take back valuable knowledge and tips that will make a real impact on your future projects.

"I have had the unique opportunity to implement turnaround best practices at various sites and this is the first course that I have been able to attend that provides real consequences and impacts of decisions made during the long range planning phase and the  turnaround work execution phase."  - Turnaround Manager, Flint Hills Resources

TARfighter is a truly unique and fully interactive course. Don’t miss this opportunity to benchmark your approach, evaluate where you’re currently at and what you can improve, and train your team in the fundamentals of turnaround decision making.

Participants will work with a Pert diagram and a predefined work breakdown structure which contains realistic events such as failures and breakdowns on a plant facility. As the TAR Manager, participants will run the TAR project in five different stages structured with a briefing and de-briefing for each stage.

T.A. Cook Conferences invites operations and maintenance professionals, continous imrprovement managers, engineering supervisors, and shutdown and turnaround managers to participate in the forum that examines best practices in the outage and delivery optimization industries. In addition to the two-day forum, there will be an evening reception, where attendees will have extensive networking opportunities with their peers.
